De Beauvoir Summer Art Project

Clay is available to collect from Monday and your clay creations should be returned to school by July 3rd.

We are all friends

Want to make a friendship bracelet? The Tate will show you how!
You make the bracelet by tying lots of small knots. This creates a pattern. You can have lines, zig-zags and even arrows! This is a type of weaving. Lots of artists use weaving to create their art.
One artist who did a lot of weaving was Anni Albers. Here she is using a large machine to create big textile patterns.

Anni Albers studied weaving and textiles at the Bauhaus art school in Germany. She believed that textiles are a type of art and as important as painting or sculpture!
Anni travelled a lot in her life. She spent some time in South America. These trips influenced the patterns and designs of her textiles. Have you been somewhere which has inspired you?
You will need:
  • 4 different colours of thread (64cm of each)
  • Scissors
  • Sellotape
Send photos of your bracelets and in a time when we are apart, think about who you might want to make a friendship bracelet for.

Friday 19th June - English

Today I want you to write a radio advert for your cereal.

Use your plan from yesterday to help you write a persuasive advert that will make children run to the shops and buy your cereal!

You can read my advert again to help you get started, but I am sure you can write a better one!

Maybe you could record your advert and send it to me at debeauvoirprimaryschool@gmail.com ?

What will the cereal do for you?
What is special about the cereal?
Are there special offers on the box?
Tell me how they are persuasive.

Odd One Out

Yesterday we thought about the different types of teeth humans have.
Have a look at the statements below - can you match the name of the tooth to its location in the mouth and its function? One has been done for you.

Thinking about the function of the different teeth - have a look at the animals below. Which teeth do these animals have and why? (Think about what they eat - carnivore, omnivore, herbivore). One is the odd one out because it's a joke animal - why and how do you know?

Post your comments today or email your ideas to debeauvoirprimary@gmail.com.
